MTHFR Gene Mutation: Can You Rewire Your Genetics?

Tired, stressed, not feeling well, and tests are positive for the MTHFR gene mutations? Still not feeling well after taking methylated B vitamin based supplements? You’re not alone. Over 40% of the population today is estimated to have one or more MTHFR gene mutations, also known as SNPs. We can’t change our genes, but we can change our gene expression through good cellular health, and that’s when we start to feel better.

Let’s explore the cellular link to MTHFR…

To better understand what’s happening in the cell, think of a gene mutation like a light in a dark room, you don’t know it’s there until it’s switched on. The switch is the cellular environment, also known as the phenotype. If the cell is damaged by infections, heavy metals, parasites, or a nutrient deficient diet, it causes unhealthy gene expression, and gene mutations turn on. The MTHFR genes cause a decrease in the cell’s ability to get rid of these toxins. When the body is overloaded with these toxins and cellular debris, it causes even more of these SNPs to become active, which leads to more symptoms. It’s time to clean the cells and turn these MTHFR gene mutations off!

3 Steps to Turn Off Your MTHFR Gene Mutation

Spring is a time of renewal and rejuvenation, and is naturally the time our cells want to clean up and clean out. It’s more simple than it sounds–there are just 3 steps to feel better and have more energy!

  1. Nourish Through Diet

A nutrient dense diet, focused on essential fat intake, with healthy carbs and balanced proteins is the key to providing cells with the vitamins and minerals they need to be nourished, healthy and strong. A healthy cell turns on healthy genes, and turns off MTHFR gene mutations. Get your B vitamins from natural sources, like dark leafy greens including kale, spinach and swiss chard. 2. Cleanse the Colon

The colon is the highway most of our toxins use to leave the body. Unfortunately, it’s often bogged down with toxins, parasites, and infections like Candida yeast and deficient in the healthy probiotic bacteria we need for good digestion. UNI KEY’s My Colon Cleansing Kit has everything you need to get your gut health back on track, and your colon eliminating toxins more effectively.

  3. Detoxify the Liver

The liver is an important organ for detoxification. It produces bile which not only helps us digest and absorb fats, but healthy bile flushes toxins from the liver and fights infections and parasites. Many herbs used today as liver cleansers actually cleanse the bile and enable healthy bile flow. The bile itself kills the unhealthy bacteria, yeasts and parasites, the herbs only play a supportive role. Thick bile congests the liver and slows the detox process. UNI KEY’s Bile Builder is a great resource to help your liver and gallbladder produce, thin out and move bile efficiently.
